Job Description

Your opportunity

As a valued member of our Help at Home team in Mount Barker, you will empower older people in our communities to live life the way they choose. Travelling between our customers’ homes, you’ll provide personalised care and social support in line with individual support plans, ensuring our customers maintain their independence, dignity, safety and wellbeing.

Kalyra welcomes candidates who are looking to return to the workforce after a career break. Due to the nature of the role, working hours may vary and may not be consistent throughout the day. Flexibility and adaptability are key.

With kindness and compassion, you will:

  • Provide personal care, including assistance with showering, grooming, personal hygiene, dressing and mobility needs

  • Assist with daily and domestic tasks, such as household cleaning, meal preparation and shopping assistance

  • Support customers to engage in social activities, providing transportation to activities as required

  • Observe any physical, emotional and behavioural changes, and report any concerns

  • Nurture respectful, friendly and professional relationships with customers and their families

  • Be capable of working independently

Desired Skills and Experience

What you'll bring

You’re a compassionate, resilient and good-hearted person who deeply respects and seeks to enhance the strengths and dignity of older people. Through your excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you establish and maintain professional relationships, ensure confidentiality and respect our customers’ values.

You’ll also need:

  • A reliable vehicle and a current driver's licence

  • A National Police Check (or willingness to obtain one)

  • Preferably 3 x COVID-19 vaccinations 

  • Annual influenza vaccination

  • Current First Aid and CPR accreditation

  • A smartphone to access the mobile worker app 

It’s not essential, but we’d love it if you have a Certificate III in Home and Community Care, Individual Support or Disability. Don’t have that? Don’t worry. What matters most is that you share our values of caring, commitment, strengths, community and enabling.
